How does group dog walking work at PHG Southampton?

Ritchie and Amber collect your dog from your home address in a well-maintained, fully ventilated van. We drive safely to a private secured field that PHG uses exclusively. Your dog walks off-lead with a group of friendly, compatible dogs. After the walk, we return them home, usually nicely tired and happy. You get daily updates with photos so you see what your dog got up to during their adventure.

How many dogs are walked at once on a group walk?

Group size stays manageable so every dog gets the necessary attention and stays safe. The van has six secured dog crates, which sets the practical upper limit for any single group. Exact numbers depend on the dogs’ temperaments and their compatibility, which we assess before any dog joins the group. Safety and individual attention come first.

Why are group walks done in a private field instead of a public park?

Two reasons. Safety and quality. In a private, secured field the dogs can run off-lead without any risk of running into unknown dogs, traffic, or busy paths. The field is PHG’s exclusively during the walk, so your dog gets uninterrupted playtime.

How do Ritchie and Amber keep dogs safe during transport?

The van has six large, custom built, individually secured dog crates, two flettner fans for airflow, and an electric fan for year-round comfort. No dog is ever loose in the vehicle. The van is well-maintained and kept clean between trips. Dogs are loaded and unloaded one at a time. This setup keeps every dog safe and comfortable in all weather conditions, whether it’s hot summer days or cold winter mornings.

How do I get a quote for group dog walking?

Group walks start from £18.50 for one dog, including transport to and from the private secured field. Two dogs from the same household start from £27.50. These are indicative starting prices. Your location, and any additional requirements may affect the exact figure. We meet you and your beloved dog at a free initial consultation first, provide you with a quote and arrange some initial trial walks. WhatsApp is the fastest way to start the conversation.

Is group walking cheaper than solo walks?

Many Southampton dog owners assume group walks cost less because dogs share the walker’s time. Actually, PHG’s group walks start from £18.50 compared to £15 for a 30-minute solo walk. The group service costs reflects the longer walking time of 60 minutes, plus door-to-door transport in a specially equipped van, and access to a private secured field where dogs can run off-lead safely.

Is group walking right for your dog?

Group walks work well if your dog enjoys playing with other dogs and has reasonable recall. They’re ideal for energetic dogs who need a good run and social interaction. However, if your dog is nervous, or still learning basic commands, solo walks might be better initially. The free initial meeting lets us assess whether your dog would thrive in a group setting. We never force a dog into a situation where they won’t be happy and confident.
