What does a standard cat visit include?
Each visit covers feeding (wet, dry, or however your cat prefers), fresh water topped up, litter tray cleaning and changing, grooming, and play and interaction time, based on your cat’s exact routine. Ritchie and Amber also carry out welfare checks ensuring your cat looks well and happy. The visit includes complimentary home tasks: post collected and tidied, curtains opened or closed, lights switched to keep a natural rhythm, bins out on collection day, and indoor plants watered. Finally, we send a daily update to you with photographs of your beloved cat.
Can Ritchie and Amber give a cat medication during visits?
Yes. Ritchie and Amber can handle tablets, liquid medication, insulin injections, eye and ear drops, and topical treatments. They will require instructions from you, and ideally a demonstration – both of which can take place at the initial meeting. Medication times are fitted around visit schedules. If your cat takes multiple medications, Ritchie and Amber will establish a clear routine and confirm completion in each update.
Will Ritchie and Amber play with my cat during visits?
Yes, if your cat enjoys it. Some cats love play and Ritchie and Amber will only be too pleased to play with them. Others prefer a gentle head rub or just quiet company while they eat. Some cats prefer to be left to their own routine. The interaction is shaped around what your individual cat enjoys, not a rigid checklist. This flexibility is discussed during the free initial meeting.
What home checks are included with cat visits?
Every cat visit includes complimentary home services. These are: safe and secure home checks of rooms, post collected and tidied, curtains opened or closed so the house doesn’t look empty, lights switched on or off to maintain a natural rhythm, bins put out on collection day then brought back in, and indoor plants watered. These tasks help keep your home looking lived-in and secure while you’re away.
Can I ask for specific tasks that aren’t on the standard list?
Yes, within reason. If your cat or home needs something specific, mention it at the free initial meeting. Common requests include watering garden pots, feeding garden birds, or moving post to a particular spot. The goal is giving you complete peace of mind, not sticking rigidly to a standard checklist. Ritchie and Amber tailor each service to your individual situation.
Do cat visits cost more if you include the home security tasks?
No. Many cat owners think the home security services (post, bins, lights, curtains, indoor plant watering) are charged separately like a house-sitting add-on. Actually, these tasks are complimentary with every cat visit and are built into our standard prices. Ritchie and Amber include them because cats do better when their home environment stays normal, and keeping your property looking lived-in is part of responsible pet care. The only additional charge that might apply is watering external garden pots at £5 per visit, or the small extra for cats on medication.
Is PHG Southampton right for your cat care needs?
PHG fits well if you want both professional cat care and home security handled together in one service. Your cat gets individual attention rather than a quick food-and-go visit, with play time, interaction, and health monitoring included. The complimentary home tasks mean you don’t need separate arrangements for post, plants, or keeping the house looking occupied. If your cat needs medication, Ritchie and Amber’s Pet First Aid Certificate and experience with complex care routines make this straightforward rather than stressful.
